How to unlock your journal, and what to do if you've forgotten your journal password

Your journal password is separate from the password used to sign in to your Penzu account.

If you know the journal password, open the journal, enter it, and select Unlock Journal. You can unlock a journal this way on the full website, iOS, or Android.

Reset a Basic journal password

The forgotten-password reset is available on the full Penzu website:

1. Open the locked journal.

2. Select Forgot your password? Click here to get a hint. to display the hint you saved when you locked the journal.

3. If the hint does not help, select Reset your journal password now.

4. Open the email from Penzu and follow its link.

The email link unlocks the journal and clears its Basic password and lock state. You can set a new journal password afterward if you want to lock it again.

The iOS and Android apps do not provide this forgotten-password email reset. If you cannot use the full website or the reset email does not arrive, contact Penzu Support and include the journal's name. Write from the email address on your Penzu account so we can help unlock it.

Encryption Locking cannot be reset

These reset steps do not apply to an encryption-locked journal. If its encryption password is forgotten, Penzu cannot unlock the journal or recover its contents.
