How to lock your journal, and locking settings explained
A journal password is separate from the password you use to sign in to Penzu. It adds another layer of protection to an individual journal.
The full Penzu website provides all journal-locking options. Open your journals list, select the lock control for the journal, enter and confirm a journal password, add a Password Hint, and select Lock Journal.
Basic Locking
Basic Locking can use these settings:
Remember password uses the same journal password the next time the journal is locked. If it is off, you choose a new password each time you lock the journal.
Auto lock journal automatically locks the journal when you leave it. Auto lock requires Remember password.
After you unlock a journal, it remains unlocked until you lock it again. Auto lock handles that relocking automatically when you leave the journal.
If you forget a Basic journal password, follow How to unlock your journal or reset a forgotten journal password.
Encryption Locking
Encryption Lock is available with a paid Penzu plan. It encrypts the journal's entries using the journal password.
If you lose an Encryption Locking password, the journal cannot be unlocked and its contents cannot be recovered.
Remember password and Auto lock journal are Basic Locking options and are not available with Encryption Locking.
Using the mobile apps
The iOS and Android apps can lock journals and unlock them with the known journal password. The forgotten-password email reset is available only on the full Penzu website.
